The function of a DC motor commutator

Generally speaking, only DC motors have commutators.
The commutator is an important component of a DC motor. Its function is to convert the direct current flowing through the brushes into alternating current within the windings, or to convert the alternating electromotive force in the windings into a direct current electromotive force at the brush terminals.
In addition, it’s worth noting that the commutator in a DC permanent-magnet series-wound motor is a component designed to keep the motor rotating continuously.
The key component of a DC motor—the commutator—serves to convert the direct current flowing through the brushes into an alternating current within the windings, or to convert the alternating electromotive force generated in the windings into a direct current at the brush terminals. The slot-engraving machine for commutators is suitable for armature commutators used in automotive motors, motorcycle starter motors, electric tool motors, and micro-specialty motors. To use this machine, place an armature into the positioning fixture; when the start switch is activated, the machine automatically clamps the armature securely. The machine then automatically locates the correct slot position, performs the engraving, and carries out indexing until the engraving is complete, after which it automatically releases the clamping device. The operator can then remove the current armature, insert another armature into the positioning fixture, and the cycle restarts from the beginning. The commutator is a crucial component of a DC permanent-magnet series-wound motor, enabling the motor to keep rotating continuously.
